Veneration of Ruskin
by Ric Kasini Kadour
8”x10”; collage; 2017

This collage combines the 1875 self portrait of John Ruskin with his 1856 drawing of Aiguille de Blaitière, a mountain in the Mont Blanc Massif in Haute-Savoie, France which Ruskin visited. The flowers come from a still life by Gerard van Spaendonck (1746–1822) titled, An Elaborate Still Life Of Flowers In An Urn Resting On A Stone Ledge With Goldfish In A Glass Bowl, A Melon And Grapes.
